Grand Cayman

Hi - I am cruising with Carnival this Christmas with our family (boys are 10 and 14). Last time we did a tour including Stingray City, Hell and Turtle Farm.
Any suggestions on what is good for an excursion this time around? A good snorkel trip perhaps?? When we were at Stingray city last time, the waves were so intense that hardly anyone got in the water and the "guides" had to pull people back to the boat - is it always this way?? Doesn't make me want to go back there.
Thanks
DonnaB - Calgary

We had a wonderful experience at Stingray City on Captain Bryan's Buccaneer. We have been to SRC twice, and neither time were there waves. I am sorry your experience wasn't good. I would suggest to try again! It is an amazing experience.

I have some photos in my signature that show what our day was like.

We also had a great experience at Sting Ray City with Captain Marvin, we then went to a snorkeling spot. They did a DVD of the entire trip it was a good memory. In fact since its about 10 degrees outside, I think I might pop it in now.

Eden Rock is a good snorkel location only a couple hundred yards from the tender docks.

We used Captain Marvin a few years ago and were fortunate that the waves were not rough. But I have heard of others at various times talk about the rough water.

When you get off the tenders, turn to your right on the street and walk about 1/2 mile -- Eden Rock for snorkling is there. Also a nice, reasonable restaurant right there for a quick bite to eat after you are done snorking.

Going to Paradise Restaurant/EdenRock has always been something we've enjoyed doing after whatever else we've done because it's so so so very close to the Tender Dock.

At Paradise Restaurant the "foo foo" drinks are made with REAL fruit!

Eden Rock has tons of fish! Even if you don't want to dive or snorkel (actually ... good), just buy some of the "fish food" and sit on the steps which lead into the water and have fun feeding and seeing all kinds of interesting fish.
