5 More Years for Costa Cruises and Catalina Island
The Government of the Dominican Republic has granted Costa Cruise Line a 5-year extension on the public concession associated with the use of Catalina Island.
The Costa Mediterranea will be at Catalina Island many times during her winter 2009/2010 sailings. . From December 22, 2009 through April 13, 2010 the ship will be in Catalina every Tuesday. The stopover at the island lasts from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm.
For anyone that has been to Catalina Island, you'll remember the non-stop shuttle service to and from the beach from 9:30 am until 4:30 pm.
It would appear that Costa Cruises on-going commitment to the tourism industry and its development in the Dominican Republic has aided Costa in the extension decision. Its attempts at responsible and sustainable cruise practices also deserve recognition as part of the government's decision to extend.
