Castaway Cay is absolutely one of the major high points of our DCL cruises. It's great that they have a large dock right there - no need for tendering, and you can reboard the ship any time you wish.

Directly behind the ship when it's docked is the actual movie prop of the Flying Dutchman used in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. Very cool sight.

The food onshore is very good, especially at Serenity Bay, the secluded beach for adults only. There are also several bars that are easily accessible.

Castaway Cay is presently undergoing major renovations to expand the facilities in anticipation of the arrival of the new, larger DCL ships in 2011 and 2012. Even with all the construction work going on, the island was totally enjoyable on our last visit last month.

I have to admit that this is one of our favorite private islands among all the cruise lines. We love the fact that they have an adult beach where we can get away from the kids. We would have loved to take the itinerary that offers two stops at Castaway Cay - that would have been wonderful! The food is also pretty good considering the food on the ship is not all that great.

While we love Disney, the food on the ship was disappointing, but the characters and especially the shows were the best of all the shows we've ever seen. The cabins are nice, the beds are comfortable, and the ship is equally as nice. Their specialty restaurant was very good, but we just felt for the price and comparing everything, they could be providing a better dining experience in the dining rooms.

Haven't been there, but our Son and his wife were on the very first EVER Disney (Inaugural) cruise, and came back raving about Castaway Cay. They said it was the absolute highlight of thier trip.
