Carnival Cruise Lines - News Release

Carnival Victory to Launch Year-Round Seven-Day Cruises from San Juan in 200808/24/2007 MIAMI (August 24, 2007) – Carnival Cruise Lines will deploy the 2,758-passenger Carnival Victory on year-round seven-day southern Caribbean departures from San Juan beginning in November 2008.
Carnival Victory replaces the Carnival Destiny on this popular itinerary and provides a newer, slightly larger ship, as well as a fresh new choice for consumers.

A truly spectacular “Fun Ship,” Carnival Victory offers a dramatic décor inspired by the world’s great oceans and seas designed by Carnival’s ship architect Joe Farcus. The dramatic Seven Seas atrium spans nine decks and is an instant “wow” as guests board the ship. From the elegant Atlantic and Pacific dining rooms, to the exciting South China Sea Club casino, to the unique Adriatic Lounge, there are 17 different themed venues for guests to enjoy.

In addition, the Carnival Victory will feature Carnival’s Seaside Theatre with a huge outdoor LED screen showing movies, concerts and other programming. A full range of daytime and evening features will be available including everything from kids movies to major sporting events.

The ship also offers elaborate stage shows from the beautiful 1,500-seat Caribbean Lounge that spans three decks, with elaborate production shows “Livin’ in America” and “Vroom” offering a truly dazzling entertainment experience.

“The Carnival Victory will provide a great new option for us in the Southern Caribbean, including the opportunity to visit five magnificent ports of call, all in a one- week cruise,” said Vicki Freed, Carnival’s senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Carnival Victory’s Week-Long Voyages to San Juan
The Carnival Victory’s new five-port, seven-day schedule from San Juan kicks off Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, and includes an overnight call in the elegant resort area of La Romana/Casa De Campo, along with extended visits to the tropical destinations of St. Kitts, Barbados, Dominica and St. Thomas.

Casa de Campo is one of the Caribbean’s premier resorts and features extensive resort amenities including Altos de Chavon, a 16th century Mediterranean village replica; world-class golf and a wide variety of beach and watersports, to name just a few. In addition to breathtaking beaches ranging in color from black to golden, St. Kitts offers a landscape of rugged mountains and dense rainforest. Barbados is a friendly British isle boasting beautiful aqua-blue waters and white-sand beaches, along with numerous shopping, dining and watersports opportunities. A 289-square-mile island dominated by hot springs and volcanoes, Dominica offers gorgeous white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters teeming with tropical fish, while St. Thomas is one of the Caribbean’s most popular islands, with excellent duty-free shopping bargains and world-famous beaches.

    A Spectacular ‘Fun Ship’
The 102,000-ton Carnival Victory offers a multitude of dining, entertainment and activity options, along with such high-tech features as an Internet Café, Wi-Fi access, and cell phone service.
The ship features four swimming pools – one with a 214-foot-long corkscrew waterslide – a state-of-the-art 14,500-square-foot spa and gymnasium, an on-board duty-free shopping mall and a jogging track. Family-friendly amenities include “Camp Carnival” and “Club O2,” with supervised activities and expansive facilities for children and teens, respectively.

Dining options include twin two-level dining rooms with expanded menus and wine lists, a 1,200-seat poolside eatery featuring a 24-hour pizzeria, a patisserie serving specialty coffees and sweets, and complimentary 24-hour room service.

Carnival Victory also offers a wide range of spacious accommodations, including a wide selection of affordable balcony staterooms – perfect for scenic Caribbean cruising. Every stateroom features the Carnival Comfort Bed sleep system, with plush mattresses, luxurious duvets and high-quality linens and pillows.

I might try this one. So I guess Destiny is not doing the 5 day cruises they announced recently?
