Ports - Cozumel, G.C, Belize, Roatan

Hi everyone: I just booked the Carnival Valor for Dec 24 and will be going to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Belize and Isla Roatan with our family of 4.
Before booking my excursions, I am wondering if there is anything easily accessible on your own from these ports?
Sometimes you book a costly excursion and find out you could have done something on your own within walking distance for example. With other ports I find it you didn't book an excursion you would have nothing to do!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Donna
I visited these ports back in Jan. on the Miracle all but Roatan

In Grand Cayman, we tendered in and took a tour for $ 20.00
each to HELL, the Turtle Farm and then to 7 mile beach wehre the tour bus returned to pick us up at a certain time.
basically there are jsut shops in the vacinity of walking from the pier.

In Cozumel, we just enjoyed the pier area with all of the shops and the few restaurants that were open.

In Belize we took the tender in and then took a taxi tour for $ 15.00 each around the city, and back to the pier area for shoppping and drinks

I am sure someone else will come along and let you know of a few more things to do in these ports.

    Donna-
We have done all of these ports at one time or another.
In Belize, I suggest getting something ahead of time, there really isn't much to just grab. You can get some snorkeling tours at the pier, but I would have that set up ahead of time also.
In Roatan, it depends on what you want to do. We are booking a cab to take us around the island in Jan. I have already contacted the company and we are paying about $20pp for the day.
In Grand Cayman, Gottabe is right about what is in walking distance. We have done the stingray thing there through Captain Marvins. I did notice in all of the ports there are people selling their tours.
In Cozumel, we took a beach day. We went to Paradise Beach and had a great day. I do know they have a snorkel trip and parasailing that you can book right there at the beach.

I hope this helps. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

Donna .... You're going to GREAT ports! Especially good ones for beach/water sports!

In Belize we did the "Private Island Beach Break" and really enjoyed it!

Donna, there are threads for each of these ports in the Ports of Call and Cruise Destinations areas of this board. Take a look at all of them, and see what looks good to you.

In Cayman, the thing everyone recommends is to snorkel with the stingrays. There are several locals who manage tours there, and you are better off with one of them than going through the cruise ship.

In Cozumel, there are LOTS of choices. Take a look, and see what interests you. Then it will be easier to find the right vendor for your trip.

There are lots of threads here about Roatan; I don't know how old everyone in your family is, but older kids like ziplining . Roatan is also a great place for snorkeling.

Belize is the one place that I've heard that you might be better off working through the ship, but I've never been there.

But all these places are great places to go on vacation. You will have a wonderful time!
