NOLA is Fall 07 Triumph Homeport

    From the Carnival Website:

... Carnival will launch seven-day Caribbean cruises from New Orleans aboard the Carnival Triumph beginning September 2, 2007. Prices for these week-long cruises begin at $429 per person.

Carnival will be the only cruise line to operate two ships year-round from New Orleans. Together, the Fantasy and Carnival Triumph are expected to carry some 320,000 guests annually from New Orleans.

Carnival is currently accepting reservations for all of its various New Orleans departures.
For additional information and reservations, contact any travel agent, call 1-800-CARNIVAL or visit carnival.com.

I was really glad to find out abiout this...
It's good to see things coming back to New Orleans... they STILL have SUCH a LONG way to go.
We were through there in August, and the devastation is just amazing...

I was last in NOLA in 2003 at a convention. There were two ships docked beside the Riverwalk and the convention city. I'm plannig to go back and see the city in 2007, so I may make it an extended vacation starting with a cruise. I really enjoyed my time there and hope they rebuild as promised.

Nola is alive & well & looks like a cruiseport again. When I arrived on Saturday, Golden Princess was there as well as RCL Granduer of the Seas. On Sunday NCL was loading up. Fantasy arrived on Monday to take us away.

The new terminal is nice. Embarkation was great. Great to see it so alive in that area again.

Wonderful to have a first hand report, and to know that CLFers are contributing to NOLA's recovery!

The Triumph is a very nice ship. Very well-maintained. It's not just some old one being put out to pasture.

    We're all booked for November 18 2007.

WarEagle and I will be in an aft wrap. Our neighbors are in afts but
    different decks.

Be careful in NOLA. It is the murder capital. It's sad but they will do
whatever they(criminals) have to do to take what they want. Trust me, I know
first hand. My attacker did not want me, per se, he wanted my customized van
but what he left me with will take years of therapy to undo, if ever.
Stay with a group, never just one or two people.

Those of us that live here know the true story and Tourism doesn't want the truth to be exposed. Come visit but be extremely careful. Crime is everywhere.

I'm sorry whatever happened to you happened, but crime is everywhere - not just New Orleans.

Many (not all) of the murders recently are over turf and related to gangs and drugs.Tourists really have no business where most of them occur and tourists are not being targeted.

There was recently a march by the citizens that made a statement that enough is enough.
    NOLA.com: Everything New Orleans

The city has hired a consultant (Lee Brown) to help them straighten out the mess. Maybe he will help, maybe not, but he was a police chief in Atlanta, Houston, and New York. Also was mayor of Houston for 3 terms.

I personally find the city to be safer than pre-Katrina, but have to second to motion to please be careful in New Orleans and everywhere else.

I have two cruises planned this year on Triumph out of New Orleans. One of them is the Nov 11 sailing. I'll be exiting as you enter!
