We need to eat early due to DH's digestive condition. On the ladies cruise I like late seating!

We will be cruising with my sister, brother-in-law and their 5 year old. The 5 year old just can't sit thru that long of a dinner AND they most nights close down Camp Carnival from 5 pm to 7 pm. So we all go to the buffet while he eats to have family time, then he goes back to Camp Carnival while we go have dinner in the main dining room.

We agree it is late for us to eat, but definitely don't want to miss out on the wonderful food/atmosphere in the main dining room. So when we travel with them, it is late seating. If we are on our own, then it is early seating.

We prefer the early seating as you can go to the show afterwards instead of before which we seldom make. Plus eating that late means we are ready for bed soon after eating. It does make it cramped to get ready after a shore excursion but we manage.
I'm with Debbie about the Ladies Cruise when I like eating late.

Dining Times etc.

We ate breakfast each morning in the main dining room. As we walked in, we were immediately seated. Some days a table for 4, other days table for 8 or 10. Service was always quick, food was always hot. There was no set time to arrive like with dinner nor no assigned seating. It was first come, first serve.

The deli has some amazing sandwiches at lunch time. But we went to the main dining room for lunch about 50% of the time. Nice variety there too. Lunch is also first come, first served with no assigned seating in the main dining room.

This is how it was worded in the Capers (daily guide) on the Carnival Spirit a couple of weeks ago:

(this was a port day so Empire Restaurant was closed for lunch)
(on a sea day the Lido Lunch & Salad Bar was open till 2:30 AND the Empire Restaurant had Open seating from 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm)

Actually we have never ordered room service on any of our cruises. My sister ordered for her son many times. I know for breakfast she could not get any hot food (like eggs or pancakes etc) but could get bacon. Breakfast was things like juice, bagels, danish etc. Then there were sandwiches, cookies, brownies, chips. It wasn't a very extensive menu.

You can now get cans of Diet Coke Caffeine free both thru room service and at the bar areas.

With 4 sea days I'll be in the Empire Restaurant for breakfast and lunch.

Reggie hasn't told me early or late seating for diner, but might have to be late unless I can wear my snorkel and mask.........
