Hi - I'm partially disabled (walk with a cane) and I read about the tendered ports for wheelchairs over on Carnival.com. Sorry I don't remember what it said but hopefully you will get all the help you will need from the staff. From everything I have learned - everyone makes it very pleasant for those of us who have limited mobility. Did you get a disability cabin?

I'm also traveling on the Spirit leaving Vancouver on May 14.

I was checking the Carnival website to find out which ports so I can do a little checking and I wanted to check to see if you meant the 5/14/08 cruise, and not 5/16. If you're on the same one as Cruising Granny, I can see what I can find out.

Here's what it says on carnival.com:

Ship transfer / Shore tour options
At certain ports of call, small boats known as tenders are used to transport passengers from the ship to shore. Whenever possible, Carnival will attempt to permit guests using wheelchairs to proceed. However, certain of these tenders may not be accessible to individuals using wheelchairs, or the status of the tendering process at a particular port or under certain weather conditions may provide difficult for a safe transfer to take place. In each case, it will be the decision of the ship officials to determine, based on their evaluation of safety issues for our guests and crew, whether or not a guest using a wheelchair may board a tender. To obtain information about ports of call which require tendering, please contact Guest Access Services.
Carnival will make every effort to work with you to help you identify shore excursions to meet your needs. Information on shore options is available by calling our Guest Access Services Department or online.

Okay, I don't have the real answer, but in Juneau and Skagway, there will be only one other ship in port those days, so I would guess you'll be docking on those days. There will be four ships total on the 19th in Ketchikan. So not sure which ones will get a place at the dock and which ones would have to tender.

Ketchikan can handle 4 ships so that should not be a tender.
