Hi Ctbell!! Welcome to Clf!! I haven't sailed her but I am in October. If you go into our Gallery on the top of the page you will see ships, then Carnival, then Carnival Legend. If you click on the pictures it will enlarge and you can see how high the railings are on the balcony.I wouldn't allow a child out there alone, or have tables or chairs to climb on close to the rail!! They are secure, but caution is always a good thing!! Have a wonderful cruise and if we can help with other questions, just ask!!
I actually have a question? I plan on cruising on the valor in sept sometime and wanted to know are the balconies secure, because I do have a small child and I want her to be safe.

i wouldn't leave a child on the balcony alone. I would say they're fairly secure, but I don't trust them. JV

Hi CT.. Sue asked me to answer your question concerning balcony safety.. In the first link, if you look out the doorway in the balcony suite picture you will see that they use a solid plexiglass/lexan bacony wall which is about 40" high+-.. You won't fall through it, you'd have to jump up and over it.. That said, As a parent and grandparent, I would not advise leaving a child on a ships balcony alone, anymore than I'd leave one alone on a 6th story balcony of a building.. Happy sailing...
