I understand a Carnival cruise ship is docking in Phiadelphia Port and unloading passengers. Can somebody tell me is this true?? Is Carnival making a home here in Philadelphia. Just Curious!

?? Carnival is not listed on the Philly's port schedule. Where did you see this ?
I have a truck driver down at the Phila Navy Yard and he said he's helping to set up receiving tents. He said the ship is suppose to come in some time today or tomorrow. He said the tents are the size of a football field. Like I said I'm just curious if anyone knows why?????
We love Carnival !
I hope they start to leave from Philly. It would be so convenient for me, and nice not having to fly to catch the ship.
We did leave from Philly once to go to Bermuda and it was a great experience !
This would be great for me! Originally from Philly and now only 17 minutes to the cruise terminal. Which terminal was the ship suppose to be at, the one in Port Richmond or the one at the Naval Yard?
I know this thread is kind of old, but I was wondering if this was ever confirmed? We would love Carnival, but they don't leave out of Philly. We've only taken one cruise out of Philly (Celebrity), to Bermuda. Seems like those are the only cruises out of Philly at this point?
I heard that they're going to be lowering the bed of the river (I forget which one) to allow for bigger cruise ships. Any truth to this? That would be nice!
They are planning to dredge the Delaware River to around 48 feet for the largers ships. This is mainly for cargo and fuel ships, which must unload a portion of their cargo to make it to the terminals up river. I hope they offer some good itineraries! I don't want to leave of of Philly just to go to Bermuda or the Bahamas! Hopefully someone at the top will get smart and offer cruises to the Eastern or Western Caribbean, maybe even Aruba! Leaving from NYC is so expensive compared with leaving from Florida, even when you account for airfare and hotel, you still come out a few hundred dollars cheaper, depending on the season.

I know Norweigan currently sails from Philadelphia to quite a few places, including the Caribbean. Of course, it's their small ship. I think it's the Norweigan Majesty. Only two problems with that: I'm wary of traveling on Norweigan as I've heard many not-so-good things about them, and I enjoy bigger ships.
Even if a small ship like the Holiday or Celebration would leave out of Philly, I might give it a try. I know I said I don't like the small ships as much, but at least it would be Carnival not Norweigan.
My question is, after they finish the dredging, what are the largest cruise ships, in theory, that could travel through it? I'm obviously not expect a Genesis type ship to sail out of here, but at least a Fantasy-class ship would be nice.
