Sensation: Man Overboard -Rescued by Wonder

As the Carnival Sensation was making its way back to Port Canaveral last night, a man fell overboard about 30 miles off the coast of Port St Lucie.

He was found, treading water, about an hour later by the Disney Wonder, which sent out a small rescue boat.

Hee returned to Port Canaveral on board the Wonder. Reports this morning say that the man is in good condition.

Cruise ship plucks passenger from Atlantic

A man rescued from the ocean Thursday by a cruise ship near Port St. Lucie jumped off his own vessel intentionally, according to a witness.

The jumper could be heard arguing with a woman on the final night of a four-day tour of The Bahamas aboard the Carnival Sensation. "He threatened to jump, and she said, 'Go ahead,' and he did," said Marie McDonald, who was vacationing from New York.

I agree. He should be paying the bill for the extra support he required. Can you image how bad the passengers felt on that cruise knowing there was someone overboard.

Bet the Carnival crew will be getting many more drills (apparently, much needed) in "Rescue Procedures"!

Wow, I don't know where to start.

    1) That man needs to pay for his rescue. I hate drama queens (or kings) and this guy takes the cake.

    2) It's a little confusing where the guy jumped from. Below are two quotes I cut and pasted directly from that article. Did he jump from his own vessel or from the balcony of a stateroom?

A man rescued from the ocean Thursday by a cruise ship near Port St. Lucie jumped off his own vessel intentionally, according to a witness.

The Sensation was about 30 miles off of Port St. Lucie when witnesses heard the man jump from the balcony of a stateroom into the water, according to a statement issued by Carnival Cruise Line.

    4) Did Carnival hire the Three Stooges to run their rescue operation? They didn't want to go help...they forgot to untie the boat...and the searchlights weren't charged... ? One of those things would be nearly unforgiveable. All three mistakes in a row is hard to even comprehend.

    and

    5) I hope that guy gets help, and I hope that woman dumps him immediately.

Julie, the quote, "he jumped off his own vessel" refers to the Carnival Sensation, the ship this man was a passenger on.
The other quote, "witnesses heard the man jump from the balcony of a stateroom" is also the Sensation which had balcony cabins added a few months ago. The other cabins with balconies prior to the addition of the balcony cabins were the Suites.

Aha! Thanks! They could have just as easily said he jumped off his own cruise ship and was picked up by another. "Jumped off his own vessel" sure sounded like he was out in his own boat.
In any case, what a mess! And what a dufus!
