    Smoking on Carnival Sensation

Does anyone know what the smoking policy is on the Carnival Sensation (where is it allowed/not allowed)? I assume it might be allowed on balconies but is it allowed in the state rooms and common areas? If yes in common areas, which ones? My SO is very sensitive to smoke and I just want to prepare for what to expect.

    Thank you

The only thing I found in the Carnival FAQs about smoking relates to the Carnival Splendor.....which is as folows:

Is there a smoking policy for spa cabins?
Smoke Free Policy - Spa Staterooms (Carnival Splendor)
Carnival Cruise Lines has designated the Spa stateroom and suite accommodations, inclusive of the balcony, as an entirely smoke free environment. Guests booked in a Spa cabin agree to strictly comply with this non-smoking policy and refrain from smoking or allowing any other Guests from smoking in the Spa cabin. To preserve Spa standards and ensure staterooms and suites are free of smoke residue, Carnival will asses a $250.00 reconditioning fee per spa stateroom or suite for guests that do not comply with the non-smoking policy. This charge will be applied to the guest's Sail and Sign account.

I'm sure some of our frequent Carnival cruises will be giving you some first hand info.

On all of the Carnival ships I have sailed, smoking is allowed in several bars and sections of bars. There are also non smoking bars. On Paradise, smoking is allowed in the casino on the 3 night cruises but not on the 4 night cruises. There was a small smoking section on the open deck starboard near the pool bar. Smoking is prohibited in any food service area and also in the theatre. Hallways and corridors are also smoke free. Smoking is permitted in cabins and balconies excepty as noted above.

It is important to note that although smoking is allowed in the cabins, the cabin stewards do a fantastic job of cleaning between passengers. You will not notice a smoke smell, even if the previous passenger in that cabin was a smoker.

Also, the last time I was aboard the Sensation, the Piano Bar was smoke-free. On most Carnival ships, this is not the case. However, I was informed it was a decision made individually by each ship, and up to the Piano player.

The Disco and casino are both smoking venues. I believe that at least a portion of the Michaelangelo Lounge is smoking. Both show lounges are non-smoking. On the Lido deck, there is a small smoking section outside on either the port or starboard side (I think it was the port side).

IMHO, you could definitely avoid the smoke and still have a good time.

Usually not before you show up for dinner the first evening of the cruise.

    Carnival Cruise Lines

Carnival is the cruise line that once ran the only totally smoke-free cruise ship servicing North American waters. The Carnival Paradise sailed Caribbean itineraries and smoking was entirely banned. Passengers and crew had to sign a form upon boarding signifying that they understood the rules, and the penalties for breaking them were quite severe; disembarkation at the next port of call. Unfortunately, while it was a noble experiment it didn't last long. After about two years Carnival changed the smoking policy -- some say sailings on the vessel were never very profitable. Today all of the ships in the Carnival fleet have areas where smokers are free to light up.
Today all of the ships in Carnival's fleet provide smoking areas in the casinos, most of the bars and lounges, the discos and in designated areas on the open decks including the outside dining area of the Lido cafe. Smoking is also permitted in the cabins and on balconies. Dedicated cigar bars are provided on some of the larger ships in the fleet.
Smoking is not permitted at all in many public rooms, including the library and certain lounges.

the entire article gives the smoking policies for most all cruise lines

Is this policy still in effect? I am a smoker, but recently purchased one of the vaporizor electronic cigarettes for in room smoking.
