Carnival Sensation has completed a multimillion-dollar renovation that added 98 balconies to existing staterooms, a new Circle ‘C’ facility for 12- to 14-year-olds, a water park and an adults-only deck retreat.
The 35 days of work at Detyens Shipyard in Charleston and at Grand Bahama Shipyard is part of the ‘Evolutions of Fun’ refurbishment program for Carnival Cruise Lines’ eight Fantasy-class ships. Carnival Sensation is the fourth vessel to receive the upgrades.
Projects included the addition of Carnival WaterWorks, a park with water slides and water spray attractions, and the redesign of the main pool to give a resort-style ambiance with oversized umbrellas, thatched-roof shading and other tropical elements. A Serenity retreat for adults was added to the aft area of Promenade Deck.
The 98 balconies created cabins measuring approximately 230sq ft. Twenty-four of the new balcony cabins are located midship, 12 are near the stern and the other 62 are aft, with several of these accommodations featuring extended balconies.
Additionally, a number of suites were modified to create larger balconies.
All of the 1,026 staterooms were remodeled with new wall coverings, tile work, carpeting and light fixtures. And nearly all dining, dancing and entertainment venues, as well as all passenger corridors, received cosmetic enhancements.
Carnival Sensation resumed its year-round three- and four-day Bahamas program from Port Canaveral last week.
