Hi, looking for info on the Carnival Pride

I am going on a cruise on the canrnival pride leaving out of baltimore going to the bahamas on december 6, 2009. I have two questions i so hope someone can help answer. First, i am wondering if anyone knows how obstructed the view is in cabin 5189 category 7a, a pic would be a gift from heaven. Also my children who are in the 30's age group want to know if the d j on board plays r&b/rap music at the night club. Please help i am losing hope that i will get the answer which would be a great blessing. Thanks betty

Reggierail will know the answer to the cabin part. I will email him to come here and give you the answer

As far as pictures go, do a search on webshots.com for "cabin #5189" or "Carnival Pride cabin 5189" , etc ... hope you find one

The DJ changed when it moved from the West Coast but even then I don't know if they did

Cabin 5189 is looking out over the shorter less obstuctive lifeboats on the Pride. You have a fairly good view straight out but not down. I would say they are a good buy, usually running about $100 per person less than a standard balcony cabin. I have used a similar cabin several times.

We were just on the Pride last week and after checking out the Category 7A balcony cabins and, personally, I did not see any I liked - these are not partially-obstructed, these are fully obstructed. Yes, some were better than others, but I prefer a balcony without any obstructed view; after all, what's a balcony if you can't enjoy the view? We did not happen to see 5189, but we did go into 5239 and it was definitely obstructed. Sorry, I didn't think to take a picture.

With all the good ship designs out there, I can not understand why they have to have any obstructed or partially obstructed oceanview cabins. But to me, there's no excuse to have obstructed view balcony cabins.

Well. I've sailed on Pride also and stayed in a 7A cabin. Looking at the pictures that Ziggy posted how can you say they are totally obstructed? I have stayed in cabins on Princess that were marked as partially obstructed and had almost no view of the water at all. There are people that enjoy a balcony cabin for one reason or the other and the savings on a 7A at $10 to $15 per day or more, per person make a 7A a very good alternative.

Yes Dear, exactly and they don't look totally obstructed to me. Thanks for posting those.

I guess it depends on what you consider a partially obstructed versus fully obstructed.

To me, the idea of getting a balcony cabin is to enjoy the view. If your idea of a good view is looking through the metal trappings, as seen in these pictures, then go for it.

Personally, I want a balcony cabin where when I look out, all I see is the sea. That's why I want a balcony cabin.

I would rather pay a few extra dollars and get a totally unobstructed view. But if you'd rather save a few dollars and want to look around all the life boats and the rigging, then get a Category 7A.

It really is a matter of personal choice.

Exactly, personal choice, and many of my clients prefer saving some money and still having a balcony. I have had a very positive response from those that have booked the 7A cabins and my clients are the ones I cater to.

Yeah, but we paid inside prices for them, so it was a great upgrade

If money is no option, then we would get a completely unobstructed balcony too But if you can't afford the extra money, these will do as a alternative in my opinion
