I read that Paradise was no longer going to be a smoke free ship....apparently, it didn't do as well as expected. Maybe it was more the route than the policy????

No, it was the policy. It never once sailed full!! They took a huge loss on that one!!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.
Even if you are not a smoker, chances are that someone you are sailing with is.....it makes sense that a non-smoking ship wouldn't be successful.

You would think that all the people that complain about smoking, would flock to the ship!! Guess it would have been boring for some!!![]()

Actually, when we were on the Paradise it was sold-out. I was sorry to see it go.:indiffere
JV The 4 stages of cruising: planning, anticipation, experience and reflection.
Coming up: Celebrity Millennium Wine Cruise(9/17/10), Celebrity Century(1/15/11) and Celebrity Eclipse Italian Mediterranean(7/2/11)
Thanks, Jv, for the info. I was surprised that it would sail that long if it was never filled, but you are the first to say it did fill!! Makes sense!!![]()

I think it needed a varied itineray. More than just east and west caribbean.
I understood that the money issue was lower revenues from bars and casinos, not lower occupancy. Not only did it attract non-smokers, it attracted folks who just had fewer vices.![]()
Whatever the real reason, it didn't make a go and they converted her. I sure wish there were other non-smoking ships . . . guess that's another reason I need to win the lottery.
That was exactly the problem.. Non-smokers tend to be more conservative, so spending in the lounges and casino were down.. And it was causing Carnival to barely break even on every cruise...Originally Posted by CPT Trips
