Although the ship left port full many times, it hardly broke even and hardly ever turned an exceptable profit.. It would seem that nonsmokers have a lot less other vices also.. The price you pay for your ticket barely cover the expense of having you on there. They pick up the slack and make their profit in the casinos, at the bars, and on tours.. That's where they really stick it to you, and make-up the profit margin.....

Actually, the Paradise usually went out full during the non-smoking days. but as the previous poster mentioned, the other vices did not make it profitable. There was less gambling in the casino, but more importantly, there was considerably less alcohol consumption. Particularly, wine with dinner. So when they moved the Paradise to California, (supposedly to allow some of the older ships a chance to drydock) they made it smoking. They also put it on the 3 of 4 day cruise cycle, so that they could get more passengers on in a week.

Oh, Well. Mapwife and I are considering going on a 3 day out of Long Beach. Maybe we will revisit the Paradise.

Oh I wish the cruise lines would consider even having one or two weeks a year that were non-smoking.

Smoking has become so unpopular that even most of the kids know enough not to start the habit. Eventually the day will come.

We're not smokers, and don't like the smell of burning tobacco...those who are smokers may dwindle...but I doubt it will ever be completely gone. They even have a smoking smiley face on Cruise Line Fans.
