Carnival Miracle DryDock - Report from Sandie & the Captain

    Hi CruiseLineFans!

Just got a note from member Sandie, who is on board the Miracle right now and she has some reports about the upcoming drydock for the Carnival Miracle.

    Here's what she wrote:

"At the Captain's reception tonight, I asked him about what would be done while the Miracle is in drydock. He said that there are plans to create a "serenity area" on the top deck, for a more quiet experience. The remainder will be usual things, such as refurbishing carpets, furniture, etc. You can pass this on to Pete (CruisePlanner), and tell him that the ship is "rocking & rolling", literally, with winds today at 30-40 mph. And here in the internet cafe, the walls are creaking!"

"Rocking & rolling!" My kind of cruise!!

Comes from my old Navy days - love watching others bouncing off the walls while walking down the hallway. Now that's entertainment!!

Sandie .... I also got your PM which I posted on Observation since you weren't able to open it up. (Note: Norman is following them in the Observation Lounge.)

Thanks for the update! Hopefully, it's less windy today!

On one of the last sea days, another passenger told me that the drydock time would also include adding more restaurants, such as Italian (imagine that - with an Italian captain.......hmmmmm), and more brand names, such as Starbucks or other readily recognized names, and may include a visit from a well known chef from the Food Network. He called it "Fun Ships 2", which may be a part of what other Carnival ships may see in the future.

Sandie, I have seen a few notes about Fun Ships 2. It looks like an interesting concept and will give people a bit more "comfort" feeling with brands that they already know.

Carnival Liberty is the first ship with the Fun Ship 2 concept completed. It concluded it's second week of cruising today since drydock.

Probably one of the few places in the world there isn't. Just wait a few weeks, one might pop up- like a mushroom.
