You guys think that the captain should have gone down there and just and just ask those passengers to kindly get off off his ship right in the middle of the ocean...lol.

Are you planning a cruise to St.Thomas V.I.

Yes, life boats are better equiped than a raft
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I feel sorry for the PAX (probably in the silent majority) who totally understood when booking durning Hurricane Season things very often happen.

All they wanted to do was enjoy their cruise either AtSea or to whatever ports! Hard to do with a bunch of other Mad , Whinny, Protesting pax!

I agree with Lulu. Not fair to the other pax. Hopefully the "good" ones were off doing something fun

    - had me rolling.

I already said my words in the other news thread, but it agreed with everyone else, so no need to repeat. But, I will say - WHAT A BUNCH OF JERKS!!!

I agree, hopefully they were away from the other ones relaxing and enjoying what the cruise did have to offer

From what I have gathered from the "Dark Side" and from news reports,, is the major dissapointment was in the lack of communication between the Staff and the passangers. Some felt that the Captain did not convey information in a timely matter and they were kept in the dark.
I can really understand how something like this happens..
Not that I agree.. But I have seen it before,, as I am sure most, if not all of you have too..
When you have chaos like this.. Fear thrown into the mix, and no answeres coming from those that are in charge,, You will usually get a "RING LEADER" who comes in like a fart in a wind storm and "Whips" everyone into a frenzy.
Then you get the Sheeple who will follow any false Shepard they can find..

Remember the mess on Cunard last year? The passengers were put ashore and given air fare back home.

I hear what Dave is saying about communication! It's so very important for the staff to give full, complete, and timely information to the passengers - that's stops alot of problems before they start.

We had one occasion on the Caribbean Princess where we had to change from doing the Eastern Caribbean to doing the Western Caribbean due to a hurricane and the captain explained in detail why he made this decision and we all thoroughly understood and agreed with the reasons.

Another time on the Holland America Maasdam, we had engine problems. We had to miss two ports of call and the captain was constantly keeping everyone appraised of the situation on a regular basis. Obviously, we were all disappointed we were not going to Half Moon Cay, which is all-time favorite stop, but we understood the problems because we were well-informed.

Of course, that's not to say that the captain did not keep them properly informed; it's possible he could have done more, but then again, it's possible some of the irate passengers would not have been satisfied no matter how much information they were given. As we all know, those on the 'dark side' do tend to complain alot.

It would be nice if we could get a first-hand report from someone who was on the ship and not one of those involved in the ruckus.
