Because of the design of the Spirit Class ships, your cabin is in an area where the balconies are recessed, hence the reason for you looking at the 'freaking boat' as you so eloquently put it.
This is a picture of the Miracle taken from Webshots. You'll see three lifeboats at the aft (rear), a protrusion of balcony cabins, then seven more lifeboats fore (forward),those recessed balcony cabins are where you are looking at the boats from the balcony they upgraded you to.
As you said, have a good time and enjoy yourself, it is still a better cabin than the OV you paid for, and there's the Lido Deck also.

    Hi Krissy

i was just on the carnival miracle and received the upgrade like you , i travelled the end of august and had room 5171 and 5167. it is a great room the only obstruction there is, is looking down at the deck below, the life boats are beside you but below the view of the ocean. you will have a great room, and it is pretty well centered in the boat. it is a good room if you get a little seasick.

have a great time-we did and look forward to my next trip

Hey, look on the bright side at least it will be a "private" balcony. You can even suntan in the nude and nobody will see you!
I can't wait to get there!!!

You'll have so much fun, just learn to go with the flow. Nothing is better than being on vacation.

I've stayed in 7A cabins on the Pride and will have another on Miracle. The PICS you posted were from cabins further forward that have the bubble top lifeboats/tenders. Your cabin is over the shorter lifeboats and you have a full view as the top of the lifeboat is well below the rail.

Anyway you got a balcony for the price of an OV and a great price at that.
