Looking for info on the HOLIDAY

We are looking at taking the kids again this summer, but of course money is tighterthan usual. I would like some imput and Honest reviews on this ship. I know its not going to be as glitzy and glamourous as the big new ships. but.....
We are driving 10 hours to get there, so I want to know if it will be worth it???
We live 4 hours from Galveston. BUT we are so tired of taking the same cruises out of there.
Please give me your opinions. Thanks

Don't really know much about Holiday although I have seen it several times about 10 years ago when sailing from LA on
Viking Serenade. She is a rather small ship and as you know not one of the newer ships. As far as I'm concerned a cruise is a cruise.
That said, unless it's a super deal, I'd probably opt for Voyager or Conquest from Galveston.

I've been on the Holiday twice, but years ago (1997 and 1999) when it was doing the Baja California itinerary. On that second cruise, my daughter was still too young to be in the kids' program. But on her later cruises (at age 3 and 4), she enjoyed herself. Which doesn't help you, I guess.

I would agree with Reggie that a cruise is a cruise. If this is what fits your budget, then go for it. It definitely wouldn't have the newer features onboard as it's over 15 years old and most likely showing its age.

Another option is seeing if prices go down (we've gotten some mailings with promotional pricing from Princess, so I imagine there should be some good deals with most of the lines) for another cruise.

We were on the Holiday over New Years and was surprised how nice it was. It exceeded our expectations. The ship has most what the other Carnival ships we have been on (minus the Atrium and Specialty restaurants). We would not hesitate to go her again, but we don't have any children so I don't know what they did for them. BTW we did the Cozumel & Calica.

One thing to add, if you do Calica, do not do the Cavern & Beaches. The cavern was nice, but the beach had at least 20 feet of rocks (and they were big enough you could have sprained an ankle easy). The beach was nice, but you couldn't enjoy the water there.
