    Glory 8A Upper #6217

OK, I finally upgraded (paid) to a balcony on the Glory. A good friend of mine forced the issue last night with much persuasion. I selected cabin #6217 on the Upper Deck. The only other cabin available on that deck were a handicap room, #6208 and #6442 in the rear. Room 6442 had a large balcony, but this room seems to have no takers, I wonder why. I can't wait to enjoy, relaxing, sitting back, hearing and seeing the view.

Anyone have information on this room. Thanks

Your cabin is at the front so may have more motion, The large balcony in the rear has a different configuration, but an awesome balcony, it would depend what is more important to you, the cabin or the bigger balcony!! I prefer the aft to the bow!!
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

I tried to find some information on the board about both rooms while I had them on the line and #6442 came up with an unfavorable review due to the noise from the dining room/bandstand, which seems to be right under the room. this is my second cruise and first balcony, so I wouldn't know which room was better, except for the noise. LOL

As a side note, I wasn't satisfied with my PVP, so I called the main number and dealt with the another agent. I like to control all the aspects of my travel, but this will teach me take everyones advice and use the services of a TA!

Sometimes we have to learn the hard way!

A good cruise agent that you trust is invaluable. You might have to talk to a few before you find one that you feel comfortable with, so you need to "interview" several before you book your next cruise.

Ken, immediately below 6442, is the stage in the Ebony Cabaret Lounge, on the Promenade Deck (deck 5), which would explain why there were no takers.

Thanks all for the information. It was a learning experience, that will not be soon forgotten. My aunt and uncle in NYC who travel frequently, gave me the number to their agent. She is in NYC, but since I'm in the city several times a month, it's no big deal. The have cruised several times, most recently on HAL.

I was checking my cruise wear this afternoon and some things were a little snug. It's a good thing I didn't take the tags off most of the items yet. I had to take several items back to the store to exchange for a larger size. The lady at the customer service desk asked me why did I just try on the items. I told her I bought the items for a cruise and packed them away without trying them on because they were my normal size. I told her a picked up a little weight and bought the items in my normal size, but the items were "cut" small. This opened up a half hours conversation on cruising. She gave me a few tips on Cozumel, and Belize, so now I'm even more pumped. I'm still trying to get away with one large suitcase, but I keep forgetting the suit and shirts for formal night.

You'll absolutely love the balcony. Once you start getting a balcony, you never go back !!!!

    Upgrade Update

The friend who talked me into the balcony decided that he and his family would join us on the cruise. I called Carnival to see if he could get a cabin under my military rate (no, but he did get a good price). The Agent/PVP had seen that I upgraded to a balcony and asked me why I didn't forgo the military discount for the past guest discount and get a higher deck upgrade. I informed her I tried this before I upgraded to the balcony on the Upper and the reply was it couldnt be done. She spoke to the powers that be that never get on the phone (supervisors) and a few minutes later, I went from Upper Deck #6217 (bow), to Empress #7363 (mid-ship).

Another lesson learned in regards to using a TA.

Congratulations on the move! You will like mid ship a whole lot better than the bow.

    Can't Wait!

I've been getting good reviews on the move. I can't wait to experience everything I've been reading about. Breakfast on the balcony, watching the sunrise, I'm getting excited just thinking about it.
