Question 7 night on Glory or less on smaller ship

We are planning to go on a crusie this summer with our 7 year old daughter. We have been checking out the Glory Western Cruise. It will be her first cruise and our 3rd. The longest we have been onboard is 5 nights. Will the 7 nights be too much. Will she be board with the ship? The reason I picked the Glory is that it seems to be newer and nicer than the ships that were only 5 night crusies. I wanted to be sure we would have a good pool area for her.
I was set on it - until I read the reviews about the food on the Glory. Has it improved since last May????
    Any suggestions??

Hi flamingogirl, Welcome aboard. I have not cruised on the Glory, but on her newer sister the Valor out of Miami. Both ships are exactly alike except for their themes and colors inside. The Glory went into service in 2003.
7 nights will not be too much, it's only two nights more. Carnival has a kids program called Camp Carnival. They provide entertainment for the kids and there is a pool for them. I've heard nothing but excellent reviews about Camp Carnival. There's so much your 7 year old can do on the ship with her parents, she won't be bored. There's a 214 ft water slide where she can have fun on.
One thing I will tell you that I've found out for myself, whenever you hear or read negative things about the food or a ship, take it with a grain of salt.
If you wish the Valor sails out of Miami year round, and the Liberty, which is the newest of the three is in Ft Lauderdale year round also, so you can opt to try either of those three newer Conquest Class ships. The Liberty has a large screen on the Lido deck where you can watch movies at night or during the day.
If Port Canaveral is closer for you, then I would cruise the Glory.

Thanks, Port Canaveral is closer - which is why I was choosing it. However the large screen on the Lido deck sounds cool.

Seven nights would be perfect. I just got back from a 5 day on the Elation, & it was too short.

You're right. Even 7 nights are too short for me now. My next cruises are 10 and 12 nights. Can't wait to be on the ship for a 14 nighter.

Its hard to find a cruise that's more than 14 days that's reasonably priced though.

I can relate to that. Port Canaveral is SO quick and easy - it's like pulling teeth to get my DH to agree to sail out of other ports.

In Miami, we found boarding and disembarking took (easily) 2-3 times longer than they did at Port Canaveral! Maybe it was just an extra crowded time in Miami.

Ft Lauderdale we found to be a bit better than Miami, but still not nearly as quick or easy as Port Canaveal.

Sheila, the reason it takes longer to board and disembark in Miami, is because they are boarding the Valor and Victory, or the Elation and Valor, depending on the time of year, at the same time. Same with disembarking.

In Ft Lauderdale, there's just one Carnival ship in port on any weekend, the Liberty. On weekdays it's the Legend, sometimes on Mondays, or Tuesdays.

My daughter went on Carnival cruises between the ages of 23 months and 4 years and she had lots of fun. Your daughter may be in the next group up and she can keep pretty busy with all the activities: arts and crafts, scavenger hunts and other games, movies, kids' dinners (Princess has this and I think Carnival still does too -- there's a place in a dining room reserved for the kids for their own private party). They'll have a "coketail party" in the disco one night. They can also join in many of the general activities that adults participate in, such as trivia. And they can go to the shows except when it's noted in the Capers that it's adult-oriented (some comedians will perform a midnight show that's not meant for kids). My daughter loves the Broadway-style shows.

Since you're going during the summer, there will be many kids onboard.
