Carnival Freedom with little ones....this is a first for us!

We've cruised with RC, just DH & I before but never Carnival and never with kids! We're booked for May3 on the Freedom and will be taking our daughter, 4 and son, 2. The cruise is the second leg of our trip, the first being Disney. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as excursions, fun things to do and things we just can't miss? We'll be doing Key West, Grand Caymans and Ochos Rios. Any advice, experiences, pix would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hey! Well I just took that cruise in February. You will have a great time; the ship is beautiful. Make sure to go to the first Camp Carnival meeting to sign your kids up and let them meet other kids there age...Carnival does a great job with the kids!

In the Caymans, there is a Pirate Ship excursion that is very popular with families who have small children. There is a Turtlefarm that may interest your kids but I honestly thought there wasn't much to it. Or just go spend a beautiful day at a beach: 7 mile, Seagrape or Royal Palms beach area.

I am not a big fan of Ocho Rios, they have the beautiful Dunn's River Falls but with small children that will not be a place to go. Unless you book a tour with Carnival, stay on and enjoy the ship! This port doesn't have much to do right around the port and once you go outside those port walls, the people will constantly come up to you selling you "stuff" or asking you to go with them to this place or somewhere...I can't remember what all tours Carnival offerred for this. We just got off and had a drink at Margarittaville, bought some coffee and liquor then got back ont he ship and enjoyed the waterslide all day while others were onshore!

I love Key West but I feel that it is a more 'adult" port. We had a blast and didn't want to go back to the ship when it was time! There will no reason to go to Duval Street with kids. You could take the Conch train tour for you to see the city while kids enjoy the ride...if they like aquariums, check out the Key West Aquarium -Key West Aquarium
Your kids are too yout to enjoy a scavenget hunt probably , but his is fun here The Southernmost Scavenger Hunt - Keywesthunt.com -- A unique way to see Key West while enjoying it’s many historic sights and local hotspots. The perfect activity for couples, families, wedding parties, or corporate groups. Win great prizes! Try googling things to do with kids in Key West. There is so much to do in Key West and it is a very pretty and friendly town, so if you research it, you will all have a great time here.

Enjoy! And if you have a chance to get away from the kids at dinner one night, definitely go to the Sun King Restaurant for a lovely, romantic meal that taste fabulous!
