Carnival is getting $245 million from FEMA for these ships - I'm sure they are going to need some major refurbishing after 6 months of family living aboard. Anyway - it is still a nice gesture on Carnival's part.

Great for Carnival..............I think that is wonderful............they may just move to the top of my list.........never cruised them but I think what they are doing is great!!!!!!!!!!!
Kudos to both our Jennifers! It's not always easy to put others first when you are talking about vacations. There is nobility in both of your posts.
I'm going over to the CLF cruise poll and ask to change my vote.

On hiatus from cruising, but still very interested!!!
Bravo to Carnival. It will be interesting to see how this story plays out. Getting sick and infirm out of those cabins, while doable will be tricky. Perhaps if they are used as sort of an assisted living facility it will work.
However and whatever they do, glad to see this corporation step up to the plate and smack a homer.![]()

Next cruise, July 12-26, 2008. NCL Jade 13 night cruise around the British Isles, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris.
Well, I heard the rumors today and I guess it's official. I was 40 days and counting but anything that will help my fellow Louisianaians will help me.
Guess the girls will just have to go to Plan B (not sure what that is quite yet but I'm sure it will involve lots of martinis).

I agree...Kudos to Carnival...I think they are doing a wonderful thing...I have to check my refurb schedule (although I did post it somewhere here, lol) as to when those ships were to be refurbed anyway. But they will need it when this is all said and done.
I know the travel insurance companies will let you change dates, destinations, flights etc...as long as the trip hadn't started. That should not be a problem. I know I changed my RCI cruise to the Carnival one in April without trouble at all.
Carnival is at the top of my list for many reasons...I just hope that all the customers that were booked on these trips, are as understanding as you guys here.
I suspect, the cruise line will be busy rebooking. I also liked that they are insuring TA's commissions. That was an interesting read.
