I have just read this entire thread and I am appalled at some posters. A young man has committed suicide and you are having a pissing match with each other over who's opinion is right??? What is wrong with some of you and where is your compassion for another human being??

This poor young man endured something that NONE OF YOU has never had to, yet you past judgement on him and his parents??

My prayers go out to this man's family and friends as I'm sure they are devastated and heartbroken.

As for some of you posters, I only hope that I am never on the same cruise as you!!

I did not know the details of this happening. I read this thread when it was first made an instantly went to find more about the jumping. I have not been back to this thread until now when I found this article.

While reading the article I because so mad at such a horrible even to happen to a child! It makes me livid to think such people actually exist in our world. Jeff tells me I am way too naive but every time I see or hear something like this happening it upsets me. This young man was a child when this happened to him. Regardless of his age he was a child! Oh it makes me sick!

I think that some pain is just insurmountable, especially to an 18 yo. It's a tragic story. I think this young man would have found a method to relieve his pain even if he'd not been on a cruise ship.
I guess the only consulation is that his primary attackers (17 yo's appx) will not even be eligible for parole for 30 years.....
