Thank you Char for getting the Dream added to the roll call and thank you Stanford's girl for the good information web site.
We, DH,Ellis and I are going on this western caribbean, 7 day cruise next year with some friends. Reall looking forward to going on Carnival, since they seem to have really gotten a lot better from our first cruise in 1996.
It leaves out of Port Canaveral Florida. Which makes it a easy drive for us. Another good point.![]()

Do you have a membership to the cabin photo site? I'm thinking about buying in since it's so cheap for a lifetime membership. But I don't want to hand over my credit card info to just anyone and I'm not really a PayPal fan. Is it worth it for someone who only cruises maybe every other year?
Some people try to turn back their odometers. Not me! I want people to know why I look this way. I've traveled a long way, and some of the roads weren't paved.

Hi gesualdo!!I don't have a membership to their cabin photo site. I can usually find what I'm looking for on Webshots and that is free.
When you click on the link below, the cabin info and pics are on the right side and you just scroll down to look at them.

And I know how you feel about giving your credit card info to just anyone because I am the same way.

I actually like the asthetics of this ship. It looks like they crossed a Conquest Class with a Spirit Class ship. The forward half reminds definately of the Conquest, Glory, Freedom ,etc., while the aft definately has shades of the Pride, Legend and Miracle. Even the funnel looks very much like a Spirit class without the red glass forward half.
I like the idea of the waterworks (yes, I am big kid) but was surprised how much space they are dedicating to SPA areas. I like the Serenity areas. A great way for adults to relax and I think in some ways it brings Carnival as a whole, one notch up from that party-ship reputation it got in it's early years. I just wonder if the whole SPA thing will pay off in the end. I find at sea these services, while usually good, are very pricey. I know certain cabins will be SPA cabins where these services are included, but even still seems like a lot of space to dedicate. Hopefully time will tell and experimentation on the Splendor will yeild the results they want, or allow for areas for improvement on Dream.
One other thing I like about the ship is it's size at 128,000 GRT this ship is big, but not too big. I am sure the temptation was there to compete on the bigger scale with new ships like Oasis of the Seas. Carnival was smart and decided to create a unique product here that has neat aspects. I love the aforementioned waterpark, but the whirlpools that hang over the side are unique to themselves. Yes, they are copied from The RCCL Freedom class, but there those ships have only 2. Carnival Dream will double the number to 4. The open promenade is also a great feature. Gone are the days when passengers would sit on the open deck in a teak chair with a blanket and some coffee or tea as the seas passed by. Also gone are unique spaces like this, often reserved and only seen by passengers during the lifeboat drill and then closed off during the rest of the voyage. The open deck space will be a welcome feature for many passengers I am sure. I also like the spaced added to miniture golf. It's a family game that can be played by players of any age. It says to me that Carnival is going after that family market, and with the bigger dedicated Camp Carnival space it is sure to be a hit with the kids.

In 1968 Woody Hayes was asked why he went for 2 points vs. michigan. He replied "because I couldn't go for 3"

Carnival Dream certainly is a great ship. Everything about it is on the largest scale Carnival has ever done, especially the Water Works and the Spa area.
I agree with you Scott that Carnival probably had thoughts about competing with the RCI Oasis Class of ship. In fact they are currently planning a 200,000 ton ship with an overall length of 380 metres. It is called Carnival Pinnacle. There are not many things out about it, although there was a video released last year but then it disappeared. I read somewhere that the video wasn’t supposed to of been released and a few people where fired because of it.
I cant wait until see sets sail in September.
Keep posting your info about the Dream please.
All the best
