    Talking Destiny's Check-in experience

Carnival Destiny, How had been your experience on the pier? how had been the Embarkation Staff service?

I haven't sailed the Destiny recently, but back on May 15th, 2004, a heavy shower of rain at embarkation caused a chaotic scene. I believe it would have been more orderly if not for the heavy downpour. Disembarkation was easy. The Staff did a very good job despite the circumstances, and lines were not backing up too badly.

I have been back to Carnival's Terminal in San Juan last year when disembarking the Crown Princess, and in March, 2007, when San Juan was a port of call on the Costa Magica, and I've seen some improvements to the terminal including the boarding bridge which was not installed when we were there in 2004.

Sailed the Destiny out of San Juan on March 2, 2008. The embarkation procedure was the smoothest I have ever experienced. Since we are previous Carnival cruisers, we had VIP check-in. The had a separate room (like a airlines club you might belong to at an airport) and the whole process took under 5 minutes. We arrived around 2:30 when boarding started.

We also spoke to other guests that did not have VIP check-in and they also found the process to run both smoothly and quickly.

I have a debarkation question......... I'll be sailing the Destiny in July and am hoping you can help me with a question......is the luggage express service available for those who are flying with US Airways? ...... I've noticed on other boards that it is an option in San Juan but no mention of which airlines.....Thanks for any help!

Yes, this is a new service in San Juan Port. I think almost all airlines are included in the service, where your lugage is delivered direct to the airplane. But to be sure you can ask to your travel agency or call 1-800-carnival. If I find more information I will post it! and... welcome to San Juan!!!!

Thank you so much for checking to see if US Airways is one of the airlines using express luggage service on the Destiny. My TA is having surgery this week so I won't be able to get in touch with her. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you'll be able to find out for me!

I was able to find out that, unfortunately, US Air does not participate in the express luggage program on the Destiny! While it would have made debarkation so much easier for us, it certainly won't keep us from having a wonderful week!
