I am pretty sure we will try a shortish trip as an experiment.
I may try out the waterslide that you don't see on Celebrity

I can just about guarantee that Celebrity will not ever have the water slide.......

If you want a water slide, try the one on Disney.

Have to agree with you there, Neal. On a recent cruise on Monarch of the Seas the casino was right next door to the Schooner Bar which was a popular place in the evening. As the door to the Casino was kept wide open, and the entrance was actually within the Schooner Bar entrance, the smoke would filter into the Schooner Bar which was most unpleasant, and for those of us who are asthmatic, a real problem.

They also seemed to allow smoking on one side of Boleros which was ridiculous as the smoke drifted over to the non-smoking side, and people would smoke walking through the lounge, too.

I really don't know how much longer cruise companies can expose staff to cigarette smoke, often for hours, in casinos. I realise that the casino is a huge money maker, and people appear to like to smoke and gamble (not really sure why these two go hand in hand?) but the health of employees is an issue on land so why should those working at sea not be protected in the same way? We avoid the casino like the plague!

Ditto here until Celebrity banned smoking in the casino. I still don't go through the casinos if I can avoid them, the flashing lights give me a headache!

Really just to experience Carnival. I figure I should give all the lines a try.
Recent posts have persuaded me it is not as 'rowdy' as I thought especially on voyages more than 3-4 days.
Go in December. It's not rowdy then! All the parents with kids are still at home, waiting for the holidays to start. All the college students are still taking final exams. And the prices are the least expensive of the year, in my experience.

I will check out the prices , but we have a 7 hr drive to NYC and in Dec there is more of a chance of snow and bad drivinf conditions. November is safer in that context and probably not much difference in price and all the kids should be in school by then.

Make sure you choose dates that don't encompass the Thanksgiving holiday time frame...lots of kids then.

Thursday, November 22nd, 2012 is Thanksgiving. Its the fourth Thursday of November.

I believe the Canadian Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October - which is the 8th this year.
