New ship celebration churns up talk about a fourth vessel operating here

PORT CANAVERAL — No sooner had Carnival based a third cruise ship at Port Canaveral than it is talking about the potential for a fourth ship.

Not only would that increase options for tourists, but another ship like the Carnival Ecstasy, which started service last week at the port, could bring hundreds of jobs and a $50 million-a-year economic impact to the region.

Carnival official Rob Huffman Jr. said his Miami-based company is selling out its cruises from Port Canaveral.

“If we continue to fill the ships the way that we have, there might be a fourth ship in the future,” said Huffman, Carnival’s Southeast regional Vice President of sales.
