The highlighted portion just reminded me of a former neighbor. When she was pregnant with her second child, I did not know because she did not show. Needless to say, I was very surprised when she had the baby, so that could explain why the Cruiseline Reps, did not notice her condition.

Yes, that happens. I didn't show a lot, either. Back then, you weren't supposed to fly in yuor last trimester I think it was. I was well into my 8th month when I flew without even an eyebrow reaised as I boarded.

I can understand in some instances of women not realizing they're pregnant, at FIRST. But, what do they think it is when the baby starts moving & kicking around in there? If didn't know I was pregnant and my stomach started moving and little bumps were pushing against my skin, I'd be in the drs office in a NY minute!!

It's very sad and so horrible when things like this happen. The baby might have lived if there had been medical help.

We don't know anything about the mother, so we don't know what kind of health she was in or how well she took care of herself. And since she was 20, she was probably very inexperienced with what to expect. I remember years ago reading about a woman who thought she just had a very bad flu, and one day out popped a baby! She was heavy and she had never had regular cycles.

By the way, the policy for all cruiselines is no pregnancy past 24 weeks when the cruise starts, but I have seen women closer to their due date onboard. The cruiseline is protecting themselves against early deliveries, since their medical facilities are not set up for maternity situations.

I wanted to post some more developments on this tragic story.

On Friday, an FBI spokesman said that the case has been moved to the northwest part of Indiana where the 20-year-old mother lives.
