I do not remember much of my cruise, and the sad thing is the part I do remember is the disembarkation.

It was pretty painless, we waited for our zone to be called (took a nap in the atrium while we waited), and from there on it was a quick operation. Grabbed our luggage, went to our shuttle and left.

Found a nice lounge to wait in, read and napped and when called left without a line and got a baggage quickly and was gone. Only those who carry their own luggage had lines to leave and wait at customs.

Not Very Good for us on Carnival cruises. Did not like having to be out of our cabin so early ... then, the long wait for our number to be called.

Lulu, we had to get up EXTRA early, I think for immigration or something.

EDIT: Not immigration...can't get the right word - but for not being a U.S. citizen.

LuLu, when we were on the Dream in May 2011 we stayed in our cabin until they called our zone. It was the easiest disembarkation we've had. I hope this next one in Ft Lauderdale is the same.

In 2000 when we went on the Fascination, when it was in San Juan, I remember we stood, it seemed like for hours, crammed in the hallway inching our way down and had to use the stairs lugging all our carry-on luggage. Back then I think they used color coded luggage tags. Now that was a pain.

We were on Fascination in May 2011 and it is still NOT painless! Much like your
    Fascination!

Glad to hear how easy it is on Dream!

per John Heald, they are thinking of going to a silent disembarkation, with only announcing that is has started. I don't know how well this will work.

Silent disembarkation means that you will get a number/color and a list with what time for your number/color and you wait until the time posted to get off with no announcements telling you that numbers 1 to 3 can now get off etc. I really do not think it will work very well.
