A 'new generation' of Carnival ships

During the introductory cruise of the Carnival Magic, TC heard Carnival Cruise Lines chief Gerry Cahill talking about the line’s future fleet of ships, saying the “next generation” of Carnival vessels would be a “new generation, different from the existing fleet.” In what way? All Cahill said was: “size-wise.”

But that doesn’t necessarily mean the line will commission bigger ships. Cahill said the line’s Fantasy-class ships, which accommodate about 2,200 passengers, “are a very good size for us.”

“Not every port wants a huge ship, and we like to base our ships at drive-market ports,” he said.

Carnival has already said they will not build really large ships. Their largest is 130,000 grt. I take it from his "size wise" answer, that the new ships will be around the size of the Fantasy Class ships, with a different design.

Yes, some people think they will do a re-vamped version of Spirit Class.

That's been done with the Costa Luminosa and Deliziosa. If they don't use that design, I hope they design one with very sleek lines.

30 Cruises with Carnival can't add the 2 jubilee cruises in 1999 and 1998 to Hawaii and southern caribbean.

That's what I'm hoping for! Sailed on the Legend last week and I was reminded of just how much I love that class of ships.
