    Smile Chef's Table on Carnival

In January our family went on the Liberty to the Western Caribbean to celebrate our anniversary. Ten of us decided to spring for the Chef's Table dinner for the price of $75 per person. I normally would never have spent that much on a dinner on a cruise ship since we could always eat for free or even have a great steak dinner for only $25. However I must tell you that if you have the opportunity to do this please do. The experience is amazing. The meal is unbelievable but the service is almost hard to believe. You are taken on a tour of the kitchen with the Executive Chef. During that part of the tour conducted during dinner service you are treated to appetizers and champaign in the middle of the chaos. You then help the pastry chef prepare part of your dessert. Then you are taken into a separate dinning room where not only is the Executive Chef there but 5 other chefs who are there to prepare your seven course dinner. I know the price seems steep but I will recommend it to everyone I know and I will make sure I do it on every cruise that offers this treat.

Oh, wow. I have had a dinner in a wine cellar and this looks equally as amazing.

Nice to know that some specialty dinners are worth the extra $$$. Thanks for sharing your experience. Don't suppose that you have any photos?

I think I have a few from the Celebrity Constellation. Let me see if I can dig them out.

We had planned on doing that dinner on the Destiny last November, but a large group that was on that sailing had the room they use booked for the entire cruise for souvenir sales! That reduced the number of things about Carnival that impressed us to one (a very smooth check-in).

So, did you buy any of the souvenirs?

Interesting comment about shut out of the dinner because of another use of the room. My brother and his family went on the Hawaiin carnival cruise and immediately tried to book the Chef's Dinner but were never able to get in. Carnival claimed that the dinner was sold out and yet they tried to book the dinner as soon as they got on board. Let's face it with Carnival you get a cruise at a great price but not always the best service. However I will still try out their new ship Magic when it comes over here.
