    I think it would have been fair and more equitable for everyone had Carnival guaranteed the pricing and offered price-protection for comparable sailings, and then provided a 25% discount, plus offer coverage for any airfare fees up to $100 each - that would have more beneficial.
    I believe the compensation package DOES include the airfare.

    I have also heard of some passengers working with guest relations to at least get an additional OBC and sometimes more.

    My bad - you're right - they are offering compensation for airfare. Makes it a little better deal, but I still think they should have done a price protection against increases.

    I voted no and I'll tell you the main reasons why;

    While on the surface the 25% discount seems to be fair and equitable, as was pointed out in another thread, Carnival has now raised the prices on alot of their cruises on the Splendor. The net result is that even with the 25% discount, passengers aren't getting a really good deal. If they book a new cruise and the price is 25% higher, then they are basically getting nothing. So it sounds good on the surface, but is not all that good in the application.

    Tough problem all the way around.

    Great point, Pete.

    I agree, they are giving with one hand and taking it back with the other.

    To update my experience with my Splendor booking.
    Yesterday the credit show up on my credit card for my refund of the cruise.
    It took 15 days from the time they canceled the cruise for them to refund my CC
    On Wednesday I received a phone call from Carnival wanting to confirm my address to send me a check for the airline ticket change fees that I paid. I was a little surprised since they have my address on my booking.

    It looks like it is working out to be a fair deal in my case. My booking was for the January 9 sailing and I was able to book on the Oosterdam 1/8 sailing to replace it for about the same price. The next day, HAL had raised the price by $100pp and a week later it had gone up another $100 pp. That was to be expected as suddenly demand for cabins increased as the supply of cabins went down. I know that for some that were booked during the holidays there were not very many options available.

    Although Carnival has raised the prices on the Splendor this coming spring, it those 25% off coupons are saved for later, the value should be good.
