ROSEAU, Dominica, Thursday November 4, 2010 –
The Carnival Victory will from now sail past Dominica on its seven-day southern Caribbean cruise.
The vessel made its final call in Roseau on Tuesday, a decision Carnival Cruise Lines had previously indicated was based on saving on fuel costs and passenger dissatisfaction.
“The cost of fuel has forced us to restructure the Carnival Victory itinerary. Cancelling Dominica would save us more fuel than any other alternative considered. In addition to the fuel costs we have had complaints from our passengers regarding the excessive number of port calls on this seven day itinerary,” the company had said.
“It was a difficult decision to make and it was only for economic reasons that Dominica was removed from the schedule.”
With Dominica dropped from Victory’s itinerary, passengers will have an extra day at sea since no other port is being substituted.
Carnival Victory will continue to call in the five other scheduled ports on its itinerary, St Thomas, Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts and St Maarten.
