Going on my first Carnival cruise in February because my Grandaughters (The Princessi) are going to be on board.

The reason we have a Thanksgiving cruise booked on Fantasy is CONVENIENCE!

Port of Charleston is only two hours away from our house. When we only want to be away for 7 nights, it's hardly worth the trip to Florida.

As someone previously stated, it is inexpensive (at least in my opinion) and they offer the best military discount (the discount is better than anything i can get as a TA rate). Besides that, we own CCL stock, so we get the OBC. Finally, we have been on enough CCL cruises that we are Platinum, and I LOVE the perks.

Since we're aiming for longer cruises, we may be taking our cruises on Princess instead. But I guess if hubby decides to go with a shorter one, Carnival is the only line currently doing shorter (under 7 days) out of Southern California.

Several have mentioned PRICE. Is Carnival really less expensive?

When we took our B2B on Carnival out of Port Canaveral, there was a RCCL ship offering almost the same thing and both were priced about the same.

As a person who doesn't like to sit by the pool, Carnival had something always happening, trivia, basketball free throw contests, ping pong, shuffleboard contests etc. Food was great, best desert ever(melting chocolate) and good entertainment.
