    Question Suite Perks

Hoping someone can please tell me what the perks are for booking a suite on a Carnival ship!

Some of you must have been in a Carnival Suite at some point!

We are newbie cruisers (only 6 under our belt - all on Carnival). We like standard balcony cabins very much but took one extended cruise (around South America on Carnival Splendor) in a Category 11 Suite and one 12 day cruise (around Italy on the Carnival Dream) in a Category 12 Suite.

We are spoiled but somewhat broke but will most certainly consider a suite again for a future cruise. The Category 11 Suite is 1.5 times the size of a standard balcony room and the Category 12 Suite is twice the size. The rooms were very well appointed and had an obscene amount of storage space (never did manage to fill all of the nooks and crannies). The layout is quite comfortable and there is plenty of room to entertain guests: on the Dream we had a cabin crawl crowd in our room and it never felt all that crowded with 10-20 milling about.

Since we are not Platinum, there were no perks other than priority boarding which we found nothing to write home about. In Civitavecchia, Italy our private boarding line was very fast but there was no separate lounge and the shore staff were so organized that our non-priority friends got on equally as fast. On the Splendor we went to the main door and asked for the VIP line and were told to "get into line" with the rest of the humbled masses. Two hours later we reached the main entry door for the second time and again asked about the much promised VIP boarding. This time we were talking to a better informed staff member and were immediately wisked into a special line and taken upstairs for immediate processing. Alas, the lights went out and we had to vacate the building due to a bomb scare. About 8 hours later we had the signal "honour" of being the last couple to board the ship. Can you guess that I am not currently overly impressed with the VIP status given to those who stay in suites.

That said, our room stewards were most attentative for both of our suite experiences and made our stays memorable in every way.

We were in 7333 on the Splendor and this room was one of those with the "grey water backup" problems so you might want to avoid this room (I hear the problem persists to this day). On the Dream we were in 7304. Noise was NEVER an issue in either room.

Jim .... Thank YOU so very much for your time to reply! Rather what I feared. Seems there are no extras that make booking a suite on a Carival ship worth it.

Gee, how did I miss this until now?
LuLu, yes, not much, Priority boarding, tendering and a bowl of fresh fruit. Of course, the stateroom is very very spacious and you have a bar too.

Same here...we had a catagory 11 room and just priority boarding and priority disembarkment, which was actually nice on our trip. The only reason we booked the suite was because it was the only way balcony rooms were offered on the ship we sailed on.

    Lulu:

We've got a suite for our Carnival cruise this June...so far, besides having a huge room a good sized balcony, the only perks I see is the VIP boarding and luggage...but for the price we paid (we got a great deal) I'm totally cool with it.

Nothing to do with your question really but we booked a suite on P&O once, & although it looked nice when we viewed it on a previous cruise we decided it wasn't worth the extra...I think it was about £3,000 !!

Exactly why I'm wondering about suite perks. The ONLY way we can get a balcony on Fantasy is to book a suite.
