I guess I should check in here, too! We cruised on the Triumph back in 2000, but haven't been back on a Carnival ship since then. The reason being that our cruise was filled with "party" folks who didn't know how to behave in public rooms. Not our cup 'o tea!
Now we have the opportunity to try Carnival again, thanks to hubby winning the Cruise Critic Sweepstakes.
Sailing on Carnival Glory out of Port Canaveral on 9/1 to the Eastern Caribbean. (keep your fingers crossed that we don't have a hurricane in Florida then!)
Hoping for a better cruise this time!

Char,
We cruised on Carnival the Miracle and the Spirit in the last 1 1/2 years and they were both much more serene that I had pictured. People having fun but didn't see a lot of drunks or roudy people and the ships were actually pretty quite.
The age group was leaning toward the 40s/50s/60s/70s crowd which surprised me both times.
I am sure that you will have a good time and enjoy your cruise. Carnival is making a big effort to change their image and it looks like it's working.
The party crowds seem to be on the shorter 5 day cruises.
We are sailing on Carnival's Miracle again in December for Christmas and New Year's Eve and Day. I will be very surprised if that is a quiet cruise...better not be for New Year anyway! I am looking forward to a rousing party on New Year's Eve (if I can stay awake that long---LOL)
We love Carnival. Well, we love any cruise, but we just happen to cruise Carnival the most. I'll be going on my 10th cruise next month, and 8 of them were/are Carnival. However, the one time I tried RC and Celebrity I loved them both and would do them again in an instant.
I have cruised 7 times, all on Carnival. I have a cruise booked on Carnival Spirit to Hawaii in September and Carnival Freedom to Greece/Turkey in June 2008, just waiting for 2009 dates to book the Carnival Splendor to Northern Europe.
Upcoming cruises:
Carnival Liberty to the Baltic - June 2, 2009
The only thing I didn't like was the red, white, and blue team thing in the dining room and you are going to hate it Reggie!!
We actually enjoyed the Red/white/blue thing on the last cruise. The first cruise we did not understand it all, and felt it was annoying, (but it was our first cruise and did not do a whole lot out side of family....)
The second cruise was just hubby and I, and we used the red/white/blue team as a way to get in on the fun, we had Mardi Gras night and there was a deck party, and you met in groups (color) in different spots trying to earn points, and it was a GREAT party on deck that night, and we really enjoyed it, (WE are NOT party people either...lol , but it was fun to be someone else on Vacation....lol)

My DH and I just did the Carnival Spirit Hawaii to Vancouver trip last month! You'll have a ball!!
The first 19 folders are Hawaii, Vancouver (not many outside of the port) and Seattle and there are links on the right to other's pictures that sailed with us also. Not the last person though.
