Haven't been on Carnival since 1975.......sailed on The Madri Gras.....sailing on The Spirit January 23, 2009 to The Mexican Rivera........getting back to cruising the October......

You are going to absolutely love it! My wife and I took our first cruise this Feb, the Spirit to Mexico, and it was phenominal. The ship is amazing, and the crew was even better... make sure you eat at the supper club!

I hadn't been on Carnival in 20 years and have taken 3 in the last year. I just did the Spirit in Nov, and I hope you will be as impressed with it as I was, John.

You will find that Carnival has come a long way since the 70's. Much nicer cruise with less emphasis on the party image. Much nicer atmosphere. Huge improvements in every aspect of cruising, service, food and rooms are nicer. Spirit is a lovely ship with lovely decor. Spirit class ships are easy to get around. I cruised on Spirit a few years ago and her sister ship Pride. I am booked on Pride again for March 2009 for the Panama Canal. Enjoy.

I have been on a number of cruises, mainly with Princess.
However this December my wife and I will be giving Carnival, the Glory, a try.
Being in my 50's, I was always a little leery of the line's party image. But we will be going.
Any info on the ship and how it compares to Princess would be appreciated

Carnival has changed over the years and it is not the party line it used to be. I am in my 50's and I feel very comfortable on their ships. The only place the "younger people" go is usually the disco but not until after 11 pm. But try not to cruise during spring break if you can, because there will be a lot of college kids on those.

I wish I could give you a comparison, but I haven't sailed on the Glory and I haven't sailed on Princess in over 20 years. You should start a new thread about that because there are quite a few people here who could help you.

I'll be going on my third Carnival cruise in November.
I was very pleasantly surprised in the quality of the food
and the presentation. The service was also quite good.
Exceeded my expectations and that of the 60+ people
I had in my Spirit CLF Group cruise.
