The 3-day are pretty much party boat atmosphere, but not the longer cruises. So just stay away from the the 3 day cruises and you're fine.

I did not know that Carnival did a 3-day out of Galveston. I am aware of 4 and 5 days on the Ecstasy, and 7 days on the Conquest. Where does the 3 day come in?
Cathy, the post you quoted was from 05-28-2007, so I imagine the itineraries have changed somewhat since then.![]()

Just returned from a 4 day out of New Orleans on the Fantasy. I am afraid Carnival's Party reputation was still being upheld. A walk down the hall on the Riviera Deck should have been off limits to minors.
I was on a 4 night from Miami, to Key West and Cozumel on the Carnival Imagination from August 10th thru 14th 2009, and it was a great experience, no rowdy behavior. The passengers on that voyage were a great crowd, very well behaved, as were the 700 kids who behaved exceptionally well.

Maybe the key is the number of kids onboard, but not in the way you think. If there are a lot of families onboard with responsible parents who make sure their kids are properly supervisored, then it may be a "relatively" quieter cruise than if there are a lot of college students on spring break onboard (that's an experience). In October, you probably won't find too many regular families (unless the kids are homeschooled or taken out of school) or college aged students. So if there's a lot of misbehavin', it's because of the type of adults onboard.

Notice that we are still concentrating on the shorter cruises on the older ships.....
Talking to the reps (no Carnival cruises for me, I prefer Monte Carlo over Vegas) Carnival is pushing hard for the fun family atmosphere.
