    conquest itinerary change

Well, I am not tremedously happy with this as it does effect me. Effective 2009 the Conquest will rotate in a supposed Eastern Carib. route, which in all actuality is a bahama route. Key West, Nassau and Freeport. I am not happy since Key West is an American City and I would rather be out of country on a cruise. And the Bahamas just don't seem to thrill me. The excursions are not as exciting and there aren't as many. And I just don't think of anything in particular when I think the bahamas like I do with Jamaica and Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Any thoughts or suggestions of things to do?

Personally, I would be thinking about where I want to go and select a ship based on that. Is there a particular reason that's the only ship you are considering?

It's a group cruise that has already booked about 2 months ago and are pretty well locked in. Can't change dates or ships without losing the group perks and pricing.

PLus the home port is the closest to us. which effect a 15 hour drive to a 18 or 20 hour drive to switch.

It will be interesting to see if that itinerary sticks. I think it is kind of sucky. Better they alternate ports in the Western Caribbean than do a Bahamas cruise.

When the heck is the Houston cruise port supposed to be finished and could that be a factor?

From what I gether Carnival is sinking money into the Galveston building so they wont move to Houston when and if it opens?

I can't believe that they are even trying to call this an Eastern Carib. ruote. That's what it now says on our reserv. on the carnival Webmess. They are saving over 700 nautical miles per trip on this route which I am sure is pleasing the stock holders due to the profit loss, and they are adding an alternative which is pleasing folks that love to sail out of an already sold out port.

I personally would have rather seen them drop Mobay and add in progresso as an alternative and keep Cayman and Coz. Spin the extra day at sea to the end of the cruise. That would reduce their mileage as well and please those that hate Mobay.

To Me Cozumel is my prefered destination.

Costa Maya will also be reopening and they could perhaps have made it to Belize or Roatan. Since Carnival is building a port in Roatan, more Carnival ships should be headed there in the future. In theory, that port would be ready in mid-2009.

Book another Carnival ship or another cruise line. I am sympathetic to your feelings.

The Eastern Itinerary is only about once per month starting in 2009. Your group might be able to switch.

On the other hand, my wife and I are esatic about being able to sail to Key West again out of Galveston and not have to go to Jamacia (which we don't like), Grand Caymen and Cozumel. We were getting really tired of that itinerary on the ships out of Galveston. Not jumping up and down about the bahamas necessarily, but it is different! However, there is the recent dress code change that has us a bit ticked

Not worried about the dress code at all. That doesn't concern me.
