    Question Carnival Conquest

It appears the Conquest is still at the Port of Galveston because of the foggy weather. What happens when there is such a long delay? If the fog doesn't lift until morning, how does that affect the cruise? The Ecstasy (sp) is due in the morning. It seems to me to be pretty hard to make up 12 hours of catch up. But, I guess the passengers are having a good time.

That's just it. If people are sitting on board waiting for the next port, they are missing the best thing about cruising.

    The ship!

    It has sailed, BTW, finally.

The Ecstasy is in now. Maybe they will get to leave by midnight. I would have been enjoying everything that would have been available to me on the ship. I guess Carnival will have to give some OBC to quiet the group. Carnival does not control the weather.

Our cruise on the CCL Conquest was more of an adventure that a cruise. We were scheduled for two sea days, Montego Bay, Jamaica...Georgetown, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico.

Due to inclement weather in Galveston (not of Carnival's doing) we were fogged in. Conquest was late docking and even later leaving. We departed around 12 Monday.

Due to the delay, we lost Montego Bay, Jamaica and proceeded to Georgetown, Grand Cayman to remain on schedule and were supposed to dock (or tender) on Thursday.

Wednesday after afternoon we were advised that there was a tropical depression (Olga I believe) or storm bearing down on the Caymans and due the same time as we were supposed to be there. It was the discussion of Carnival and the ships Captain to divert to Cozumel on Thursday and add Progreso on Friday to allow us to still have two port days and to keep the ship and all aboard out of harms way.

We arrived back in Galveston Sunday and was delayed by about two hours due to high winds.

I have never seen so many gripe and complain about Carnival's handling of this situation. I personally and Kathy as well had a wonderful time. I was well satisfied with the food, the activities, the entertainment (some was not my cup of tea) was done well, and the rooms were clean with excellent room stewards. Most people miss the idea of a cruise...it's not always the ports (which at best comprise of roughly 25 hours out of a 7 day cruise) but the ship and it amenities that truly make a cruise.

BTW...did I say we had a wonderful cruise?

Jim - Glad you had a good time!

On our Conquest Trip a couple of years ago, we were also altered (Hurricane Ernesto'). They substituted Progresso for montego bay and we did them in reverse (Progresso, Cozumel, then Grand Caymen). We still had a great time!
