    mschif,

Our favorite port was Isla Margarita. The natives were very friendly and polite, the beach was small but uncrowded and clean, the music was great and the drinks were perfect. Even bought some hand roled cigars.

Captain told us there was not much there. Maybe that is why it was so great. RCCL Empress of the Seas was tied up. We, on Sea Princess, were tendered.

Not glitzy or cheap tourest junk. Prices were very reasonable.

I love Palm Beach in Aruba. It has lots of water sports and I love to people watch. Also several highrise hotels for eats and shopping if your into that. Kinda pricey though.

Second, for a quiet beach with beautiful sand and water I like Trunk Bay on St John's.

This thread has been dead for awhile. Any beach info for those who are traveling the Caribbean?

    best beach

This is our first cruise to the carribean, so I am anxious to see the beaches. We have only been to the Bahamas. We live in Sarasota Florida and have one of the best beaches in the world right here, Siesta Key.

I am anxious to see how the others match up. We just don't have the crystal clear blue water like the carribean, which is so awesome !

Will let you know my take on the beaches once I return in Sept.

    Thanks,
    Sue

I'm still waiting for your report on the beaches, you returned when? It's December and I'm trying to be patient.

We were only at Rum Point for lunch, but boy what a beautiful spot. Well worth a day or as Annieeee said, or more...

Dh and I love Aruba and have taken land vacations there 13 times. We stay at various resorts along Palm Beach, anywhere between 8 and 16 nights. Our lastest visit was in September.

There are a couple of guys who go around handing out flyers for timeshare prensentations as well as restaurant menus. There is one man who passes through twice a day (one going down the beach and then again on his way back) selling Aloe balm. He will not approach you unless you call him over. The vendors can sometimes be avoided by avoiding all eye contact. Otherwise it is a 15 second interaction. Harmless IMHO.

Vendors are not as frequent as they had been and in 11 years I have never once seen anyone selling cigars, sunglasses, towels, jewelry etc on any of the beaches in Aruba.

We love Aruba's Palm Beach for the calm waters, watersports and availability of food and beverage. It is a resort area so do not look for bargains, especially at resorts such as Westin, Radisson, Hyatt and Marriott.

Our family will be in Aruba on December 31 and look forward to renting a couple of chaise lounges, unbrellas and a couple of floats to while our day away!

You are extremely close to the equator please make sure you use a lot of sunscreen and reaplly frequently!
