I just love this site. Not 24 hours later and look at all the information! Thank you all SO much. Now I know what a blast this is going to be! I'll take my water camera too. This just sounds perfect.

Is there any way to find out which method is used at which port?
For instance, I'm guessing that they use the platform method at Labadee because I never saw anyone landing on the beach when we were there last time. The bad thing about the Labadee location is that the brochure says the flight time is only 6-8 minutes. I think I read that it's a couple minutes longer at some other locations.

I understand the rationale-- There's less to do on Labadee so they have to cycle the flights quicker in order to accomodate more passengers. Of course, that's a total assumption on my part, but it made sense to me!

You might do some web searching on the ports you are going to. It might give you information on how they do it.

On RCL's private island (Coco Cay) they use the boat launch method.

Go for it, Debby, you'll have a partner with you to give you support since you fly tandem!

My hot air balloon trip was scary when I thought about it, but I went anyway and I'm SO glad I did. It was wonderful and I got some great photos!

We've also done the hot air balloon ride....it's such an incredible experience! We landed in a private residence's backyard, but bounced right out! The navigator told us he knows exactly which houses he can land out without getting the owner's in an uproar....

Actually, the landings are very soft. I don't remember anything traumatic about them and the inflation of the balloon is what ended up lifting us back off the ground when we landed and "hopped" us over the fence onto the street.

A "chaser" truck is in radio contact with the navigator the whole time and meets you at your landing point. Everyone helps to "deflate" the balloon and then they drive you back to the starting point....quite amazing actually.

I saw the Amazing Race hot air ballons bounce all over, then you both talked about bouncing so I thought maybe it was a hard landing eeeks!
