Do ships still visit these islands.

I have been to Margarita once; Martinique twice and also liked Grenada, but never see any cruise ships visiting these islands these days, anyone any knowledge if cruise ships do still visit these islands.

Guadeloupe I can understand, as with Jamaica two of the worse islands we have visited.

Oceana, Windstar, and Seabourn go to Martinique
P&O and Silversea go to Margarita
Celebrity, Princess, P&O and lots of others go to Grenada

    Searborn and RCL do Guadeloupe

    Princess does Guam.

(I found that out by mistake when I was searching for Guadalupe. Could not figure out why I was getting Asia cruises until I looked more closely at my search parameter)

Don't know why you'd say Jamaica is a bad place to visit - we've been there many times and find it to be a very nice place to visit. They have some wonderful beaches, great coffee, and the rum is not too bad, either. Yes, it's a relatively poor island, but there are many of them in the Caribbean. And yes, like any other place you go in the world, there are some places to stay away from, but that does not distract from the overall pleasantness of the island and the people.

Thanks Neal, its only Jamaica has appeared in our Observations. Incidentally all the places mentioned with the exception of Guadeloupe we called with MSC. Guadeloupe we were on Costa.

Personally, I did not care too much for Jamaica, either. If you stay in one of the European enclaves, all is fine, but I would not venture out into much of the country without a guide and definitely not after dark.

I am not sure if it was just our guide or if she was deliberately trying to scare us, but she said repeatedly to not go outside the various spots we stopped at since it was "very dangerous" Whether truthful or not, it gave me a strong impression of the country.

Fallmouth had walls around the port area and every vehicle was checked before entering the compound. Whether that was for economic or security reasons, I do not know but it also flavored my opinion of the island.

Now, we did take the tourbus through several parts of Montego Bay, and those areas looked quite nice but the downtown area looked a bit rough in my estimation. I think it is again, the difference between the haves and the have nots.
