    Question Public Transportation

Have you ever used Public Transportation in the Caribbean?

If so, where ... and what was your experience?

The only island I've used public transportation on was Bermuda. Very easy to navigate and friendly staff They sell transportation passes which cover the ferries and buses.

Judy, that's a helpful thing for everyone to know since we can't rent a car in Bermuda.

LuLu, other than Bermuda, my only experience with public transportation is also from when I was in Europe.

We have public transportation here in Philly, but I couldn't tell you anything about it since I haven't used it for over 30 years now

We've been on cruises with some who love to take a public bus in Grand Cayman and Aruba ... but, we've never done it.

We always use public transportation in Grand Cayman. Taxis are too expensive and public transportation takes us anywhere we want to go - cheap and easy.

Pete, isn't the bus stop very close to the tender docks? I think it is but can't remember exactly where?

Cayman Islands & St. Thomas we have done Taxi's neither were that bad...although it is a racket. They will not drive until the taxi is full, they ask for the same amount from everyone... so say 10 bucks (a bit less I think) 10 x up near 12 passengers ... umm wow (even was in one Taxi in St. Thomas where they charged for a 1 year (or less) old that sat on mommy's lap. And they can be (usually are) rude...

Did the pink bus in Bermuda that got us to the beach and was fun... Like a roller coaster!

Yep - about a three block walk - it's right by the library.

We've also done the public buses & water taxis in Bermuda - great way to get around and cheap, too.

Plus, as with everybody else, we've done the taxis in St. Thomas. But we learned where and how to get them so we don't have to be squeezed onto them with 12-16 other people.
