Hi Everyone! Since Karen & I will be in search of BLING together on this cruise I'm getting in on this one too!

We do have a friend who has shopped the islands MANY times....and she has suggested "Bobby's" on St. Thomas. Anyone else heard of it??

We found the best prices on jewelry and booze in St Maartin.. Always barter, if they come down too much, the item isn't what they say. They all have a bottom line, but if it's too low, I'd be suspicious.. They are not in the business of giving things away.. Also reread Sue's first reply, lots of good information there....

I agree with the comments about Diamonds Internations. There have been more reported complaints about this store than any other. Agree that Columbian Emeralds is a rip off.

I have bought jewelry in St.Thomas in various shops and never had a problem with it.

I agree with you on the bartering. When we went to the Western Caribbean I looked in different jewelry stores (never bought anything because it didn't jump out at me and say BUY ME!) and they always jumped way low from the ticketed price. Flags went flying and I just thanked them and walked on.

That happened also when I looked at a Louie Viton (sp) purse. He said it was genuine and I asked him to show me the serial number inside and it was nowhere to be found. FAKE!

I would be careful buying anthing substantial (I mean a big diamond or any very expensive piece of jewelry) in a foreign country. Even if you got a certificate of authenticity, what would you do if you got home and then found out it wasn't exactly what the certificate claimed? What would be your recourse?

There are so many stores to choose from, I find it rather overwhelming. Good luck finding the bracelet of your dreams...I think you will see some beautiful pieces...
