I have been to many Southern Carib islands. You mentioned Aruba and Dominica.
Aruba - I would go to Palm Beach. I thought it was a great beach.
Dominica - take a tour and go to the water falls. The are beautiful. You could also stop at the Emerald Pool. ( I did not see this but others said it was nice) The island is a rainforest, with lots of streams. There is nothing much in town but there will be plenty of vendors lined up in the street. A friends recently took a ship tour and said it was horrible. Her dislike was the bus and the tour guide. I grabbed a tour from a one of the guys parked at the doc in a nice SUV and enjoyed it.
I don't know what else you are interested in, but I have been to these Southern ports.
Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Dominica, Guadalope, Martinique, Trinidad,
St. Lucia, Isle of Margarita, Costa Rica, Barbados, St. Kitts, Antigua
(Can't answer about Antigua since the ship lost an engine and we had very little time in port)

Yeah we went to Palm Beach in Aruba, and we saw the waterfalls in Dominica. Both were really nice, in their own ways.
St. Lucia is a beautiful island. The Pitons are awesome. There are lots of things to do on St. Lucia.
On our first cruise to St.Lucia we decided to go to Sandals since we never been to one those resorts. This was before Sandals jacked up their prices. We enjoyed it
Second time we took an excursion. We used one of the guys at the dock. He had a SUV so it was very comfortable for 4. We went to the drive in volcano, saw the Pitons, drove through Soufiere, stop to view Marigot Bay, then on the way back to Castries we stopped at Eudovic's. He is a famous woodcarver. We had a couple of beers with him. I was not crazy about going to the drive in volcano but the others wanted to see it. Lots of steam coming out of the ground and the sulpher smell was horrible. There is also a pool that some excursions combine the volcano with. It is a long ride to the volcano and Soufiere. In many areas there is nothing to see except trees lining both side of the road.
Reduit Beach - A favorite of many. It is not too far from the ship. I know people who have gone there and they enjoyed.
Anse Chastanet Beach - Black sand beach that sit below the Pitons. There are catamaran tours that stop here.
There are 3 popular tour guides. Frank, Cosol and Fabian. They all seemed to be rated very high over on that "other" board.
The best way to see the Pitons is from the ocean, not by tour bus or car. I don't know if your ship will cruise pass the Pitons, some do, but only in the morning prior to docking. Hal cuts the day short in Castries and cruises by the Pitons to pick up ship sponsered excurions at Soufriere. It is wonderful site. The locals come out to the ship and dive for coins thrown by pax.
There are catamaran excursions that sail to the Pitons. As I said earlier seeing the Pitons from the ocean is the way to go.
There is shopping at the dock. There are many nice stores, not just the usual vendors.
If everything works out ok, I will be cruising to St.Lucia this Nov. We plan on going to Marigot Bay. I haven't been able to find a lot of information on the web but enough to know I want to see it up close. On our last excursion we saw it from high up. There are places to eat, hotels and a beach you reach by a 5 minute boat ride. The orignial Dr.Doolittle movie was filmed there.
Barbados It has been a long time but we always wanted to go back and plan to this Nov.
We took a ship excursion to Harrison's Cave. Both of us enjoyed this. There is a tram that takes you through the caves. We lucked out with the driver. The guys name was Rooster and he took our bus to places no one else seemed to stop. We saw a "rastafarian's" house that was made of all shells. Very unique !
He drove by some elite resorts and took us to the beach where all those huge bolder are. We were not on the beach but up above and it was a great photo op. We were dropped off in town. I shoped and my hubby went to a bar. The shopping did not last very long. I thought the prices were high and would not recommend shopping here. Save it for another port.
We have made reservations on the Silver Moon II. It is a catamaran and we will swim with the turtles.
