this really does sound neat.
EVERYONE and MUCH APPRECIATED!
I have two granddaughters who really want to do this.
One big concern I have is SAFETY! When going out on a boat on the SC coast, often dolphins will swim right up to the boat. (Really fun to watch!) There are warning at some marinas NOT to get out of the boat when dolphins are around. (Seems there could be a problem be being accidently hit by a tail....)

LuLu I have to agree with hanna and Tanya, as I did the same excursion minus the boogie board, at the same place in Cozumel. Ours was through the ship also, but it was a Carnival Cruise.
In Bermuda, they also had the Swim with the Dolphins, but I don't think many people booked it. There were only 3 girls in the water with the Dolphin when we were watching and no boogie boards either. Actually, DH and I, other than the staff and participants were the only people watching there. When the 3 girls left, another trainer and a person in a swimsuit came up and got in the water with 2 dolphins.

LuLu, the guides normally are right by you the whole time.
When our pictures were taken, there was a small dock that you stood on and the guide kind of held the dolphin in place for the shots. I'm not sure if they still do that this way, my swim was back in 2000.

LuLu, here are some pictures from my Dolphin Swim. It was 8 years ago, so they might have added things, like the boogie board, but I thought they might help you decide![]()

Neat pictures, Judy! An experience to remember, for sure!![]()
Thank you
I was thinking we're all recommending to do it so maybe seeing some pictures will help with deciding.
I definitely would do it again, especially since it sounds like it has changed since 2000.
DH and I both feel it was one of the best excursions we have ever done![]()

Wow - what wonderful pictures!!
I was planning to do thins in Coz later this year, but have had to cancel that cruise.
One day, though . . . one day . . .
Meanwhile - LOVE the pics!![]()
I recently returned from trip to Cozumel. My family and I swam with the dolphins at Chankanaab National Park. This is my first time to do so...so, can't compare to others.
I did want to reply to the posts about height. I am 5'3" and my daughter is a little shorter, plus there was an eight year old boy in our group who was under 5'0". We didn't have any trouble. You stand on the edge (as indicated by the pictures one of the posters share) and then you swim out to deeper water.
We could select different types of swims. The Royal Swim was most expensive, but the most interactive. The other swim used the boogie bards, we did not. But I saw them being used.
In our swim, we did several routines including being pushed up in the air by two dolphins who swam behind you and then used their noses to push you (using your feet). In another routine, we held on to the fins of two dolphins and they pulled you around. The other "tricks" were kissing, hugging and handshaking. The trainer had the dolphins swim by us many times so that we could pet and rub them.
I, too, recommend and agree that the trainers seem to take good care of the dolphins.
When you go to Chankanaab National Park, you can hang out there all day. They also have snuba (which is a mix between scuba and snorkling...not requiring previous experience). You do have to breath through a regulator and you are under water (up to 25 feet or so). They have two restaurants and you can also snorkle. We day we were there the water was very rough and we still enjoyed. I bet on a calm day it's even better.
