Cool Have you ever Rented a Harley for the Day?

We are doing a Western Caribbean to, Belize, Roatan, Grand Cayman & Cozumel.
Have any of you rented a Harley in any of these ports?
Any HOG Members out there?
We are thinking of doing this if at all possiable.
Any Harley Dealers on any of these Islands?
Have you rented one anywhere in the Caribbean?

They are a little to costly to rent, but would love it. They have them on St. Maarten, I'm going to have to settle for a scooter.

You'll find it possible to rent a Harley in many places, but none in that area are Harley authorized rental centers (unless you happen to find yourself in Costa Rica). As a result, you'll want to pay special attention to service and condition -- proper and timely factory maintenance is required of the authorized centers.

BTW -- if you get to Europe, they have quite a few authorized rental centers there.

I have to say, as much as I love riding my Harley, I couldn't even think to try & get on one when it is 90 degrees out, with pants and boots, I would definitely overheat! I have seen a cruise on RCCL where you can drive your bike right onto the ship, goes to St. Thomas,St. Maarteen.Tour the island on your own bike! Still, as nice as it sounds, too hot for me! I am looking for ways to cool off when down there!By the way, hubby & I are H.O.G Members! Look at this link...motorcycle cruise

We have looked into it a few times, but have never done it. When we go to Hawaii in March we might rent a Harley on the big island. Last time we were there we talked to them about it but ran out of time and never did. This time we don't have as much planned, so maybe it can happen.

Can you imagine how fun it would be to ride on a bike to see the volcano or waterfalls on the big island?

You might not want to ride in Texas during the summer, then! 90 degrees would be a cold front...a welcome relief from the heat!! LOL!

Actually, believe it or not, you get used to it. I moved here from out of state and it took a few years to acclimate, but now I think it's not that hot even when doing active things outside in the hot sun in the middle of August. But when it turns cold I really hate it. I can't stand it if it gets under 50 degrees now.

Hi Texashorselady! You are right, I have a friend in Texas & she is always so hot down there. I live in upstate NY, and hitting the 90's is not any fun on a very hot bike.Every time you hit a stop light, the heat just radiates off your engine. We usually save the riding for the evening hours to go get an ice cream or something!I like riding in that heat the best when we head up to the Adirondacks to our camp.Yes, it would definitely be cool to ride on the big island and seeing all those sights on your bike, I would be in heaven! I hope you get to do that! Oh, by the way, we woke up this morning here in NY, and it was only 12 degrees out!!!

i rented a harley in Oz over Chritmas 2005 during my stay with family over there, i had it for two days and loved it. Not the same as the caribbean but it was a truly lovely few days and would defiantly recommend it if possible!

Enjoy the ride

I know they have a Harley dealer in Cayman - been there done that got the t-shirt. But I can't remember if they rent bikes.

We did rent a bike in Aruba in March. We were on the Crown Princess and the shore excursion through the cruise line was $355 for a 3-1/2 hour tour. I contacted the Harley dealer and they offered a 4 hour tour for $155! Plus, for an additional $20, we got to keep the bike for the whole day. And Aruba is a wonderful place to rent a bike for the day.

There are also two companies that put together cruises where you can take your bike with you. Might want to check those out.

We always find a Harley shop wherever we go and get t-shirts for ourselves and sometimes for friends...especially if it's a really unusual port. Below is a photo of the nice Harley shop guys in Budapest Hungary. We asked a taxi driver if there was a Harley shop and we were sort of surprised when he said yes. The sales guys in Budapest were really entertaining, and we shared stories about riding Harleys there versus here. And I found a great t-shirt there that says "Harley Davidson, Budapest Hungary" on the back!
